Early Creative Roots in Matlacha
Born July 7, 1976 in Donalsonville, Georgia, I moved to Florida at age five and grew up in the colorful artistic enclave of Matlacha. My childhood home—later purchased by a well-known artist—was tragically damaged by Hurricane Ian and now stands as an empty lot. Its energy still fuels my creativity, reminding me that art can rise from loss and restore hope.
I discovered painting at a local ceramics shop with my mom. At age 11, I painted an Indian head statue that won first place in a school fair. That experience wasn’t just a win—it revealed the connective, uplifting power of art. That seed of purpose influences every brushstroke I lay down today.
Overcoming COPD, Fibromyalgia, and Daily Pain
At 44 I faced major health challenges: COPD and fibromyalgia—exacerbated by 26 years of heavy smoking. Quitting was a brave turning point. Although chronic pain persists and disability claims were denied multiple times, I chose movement, creativity, and purpose. Doctors reminded me, “a body in motion stays in motion,” and painting became my therapy, discipline, and emotional release.
A Transformational Mural Breakthrough
My husband and I later lived in a historic Macon, Illinois farmhouse once used as a church parsonage. We honored its legacy with care, and a pivotal project unfolded in its basement: a full wraparound timeline mural blending our personal stories. Through tears, reflection, and unexpected courage, I learned I could create on a large scale—turning raw emotion into immersive visual storytelling.
My Basement Studio Journey
The basement of our historic farmhouse became my creative sanctuary—a place where large-scale dreams took shape. This immersive mural project marked a turning point in my artistic journey, proving that art could transform not just walls, but lives.

In 2025 we hosted an "Art with Heart" Valentine's Day gathering that crystallized my artistic identity. That phrase became the essence of my brand—art that radiates compassion, color, and encouragement. Back home now in Zephyrhills, Florida, I create originals and prints that resonate with collectors, decorators, gift givers, and anyone seeking visual encouragement.
